PSBE was built on the support of our volunteering members and through donations, for which we are extremely grateful. Each year, we summarize the activities of our for-impact organisation in a report which we make available in a spirit of gratitude and transparency. You may find our past yearly reports here

2021 Annual Activity Report – Psychedelic Society Belgium
SUMMARY OF THE OBJECTIVES AND MISSION OF THE ORGANISATION:
Psychedelic Society Belgium (PSBE) is a non-profit organisation created in 2020 by people who are convinced that change is needed in the field of mental health.
We live in a society with increasing episodes of depression and anxiety, especially among young people, and a clear lack of tools to respond to this suffering. Research shows the underestimated potential of psychedelic-assisted therapies to contribute to such a response. Therefore, the aim of the organisation is to contribute to the establishment of a legislative framework for psychedelic-assisted therapies in Belgium.
This is the first annual report of PSBE. After its creation in October 2020, the organisation took some time to get off the ground in the difficult context of the Covid-19 health crisis, and the actual activities started at the beginning of 2021 with the gradual influx of new members.
PSBE does not currently receive any public funding. The only financial income for 2021 came from membership fees (€25 per year). Similarly, all the work done within the association is done by volunteer members, whom PSBE would like to thank for their enthusiastic contribution.
MAIN ACHIEVEMENTS DURING THE REPORTING PERIOD:
Structure
- Appointment of board members who support the strategy and activities of the organisation
- Definition of working groups: Management Board, Content coordination, Legal & Regulatory, Funding, Outreach
The Management Board meets by video call once a week. The other working groups meet regularly, generally about once a month, depending on the needs and the projects in progress.
- Consolidation of the structure and collaboration methods, implementation of Microsoft Teams & Sharepoint, Slack and Trello platforms for internal communication and workflow
Organisation
- Growth from 7 co-founders to over 100 members in one year
- Creation of a community platform for members to communicate, collaborate and exchange information (Slack, currently 110 members)
- Organisation of a members’ barbecue (13 June 2021), the first opportunity for most members to meet in the flesh after months of pandemic and Zoom meetings
- Organisation (in December 2021) of the first of a series of monthly meetups (every 3rd Thursday of the month) for members, supporters and other interested people, to ensure a link with the public

SAMENVATTING VAN DE DOELSTELLINGEN EN MISSIE VAN DE ORGANISATIE:
Psychedelic Society Belgium (PSBE) is een non-profit organisatie opgericht in 2020 door mensen die ervan overtuigd zijn dat er verandering nodig is op het gebied van geestelijke gezondheid.
We leven in een maatschappij met toenemende episodes van depressie en angst, vooral bij jongeren, en een duidelijk gebrek aan instrumenten om dit lijden te beantwoorden. Onderzoek toont het onderschatte potentieel aan van psychedelische therapieën om bij te dragen aan een dergelijk antwoord. Het doel van de organisatie is dan ook om bij te dragen aan de totstandkoming van een wettelijk kader voor psychedelica-ondersteunde therapieën in België.
Dit is het eerste jaarverslag van de PSBE. Na de oprichting in oktober 2020 heeft de organisatie enige tijd nodig gehad om van de grond te komen in de moeilijke context van de Covid-19 gezondheidscrisis, en de eigenlijke activiteiten zijn begin 2021 van start gegaan met de geleidelijke instroom van nieuwe leden.
PSBE ontvangt momenteel geen overheidsfinanciering. De enige financiële inkomsten voor 2021 zijn afkomstig van lidmaatschapsgelden (25 euro per jaar). Bovendien wordt al het werk binnen de vereniging verricht door vrijwillige leden, die PSBE graag wil bedanken voor hun enthousiaste bijdrage.

RAPPORT D’ACTIVITÉ ANNUEL 2021 – PSYCHEDELIC SOCIETY BELGIUM (ASBL)
SOMMAIRE DES OBJECTIFS ET DE LA MISSION DE L’ASSOCIATION :
Psychedelic Society Belgium (PSBE) est une association sans but lucratif créée en 2020 par des personnes convaincues qu’il faut apporter du changement dans le champ de la santé mentale.
Nous vivons dans une société qui voit augmenter les épisodes de dépression et d’anxiété, en particulier parmi les jeunes, et qui manque clairement d’outils pour répondre à cette souffrance. La recherche démontre le potentiel sous-estimé des thérapies assistées par les psychédéliques pour contribuer à une telle réponse. Par conséquent, l’objectif de l’association est de contribuer à la mise en place en Belgique d’un cadre législatif pour les thérapies assistées par les psychédéliques.
Ceci est le premier rapport annuel de PSBE. Après sa création en octobre 2020, l’association a mis un certain temps à démarrer dans le contexte difficile de la crise sanitaire Covid-19, et les activités à proprement parler ont commencé début 2021 avec l’afflux graduel de nouveaux membres.
PSBE ne bénéficie pour l’instant d’aucun financement public. Les seules rentrées financières pour 2021 provenaient des cotisations des membres (25€ par an). De même, tout le travail effectué au sein de l’association l’est par des membres bénévoles, que PSBE tient à remercier pour leur apport enthousiaste.

Le Management Board se réunit virtuellement une fois par semaine. Les autres groupes de travail se réunissent régulièrement, généralement une fois par mois, en fonction des besoins et des chantiers en cours.
Consolidation de la structure et des méthodes de collaboration, mise en place des plate-formes Microsoft Teams & Sharepoint, Slack et Trello pour la communication interne et les processus de travail

This is the second annual report of PSBE. During 2022, the organisation focussed on its outreach efforts, compiling several informative brochures and distributing these to relevant stakeholders, as well as organising several informative events for the broader public.
PSBE does not currently receive any public funding. The financial income for 2022 came from membership fees (€25 per year) and from proceeds from the events that were organised. Similarly, all the work done within the association is done by volunteer members, whom PSBE would like to thank for their enthusiastic contribution.
MAIN ACHIEVEMENTS DURING THE REPORTING PERIOD:
Legal activities:
- Distributing the legislative advocacy document (“Legal pitch”) to policy-makers, explaining about PAT and how it could be implemented in practice
- Reaching out to political parties from the entire political spectrum in Belgium, resulting in the scheduling of several meetings
- Following up on global legislative developments in PAT around the world, establishing links with the movement in Oregon
- Reaching out to all palliative care networks in Flanders and the Brussels Region, organising an information session at Netwerk Levenseinde (Oudenaarde, 22/11/2022)
- Organising a forward-looking workshop with the PSBE legal experts, developing an action plan and milestones for 2023

ORGANISATIE:
Psychedelic Society Belgium (PSBE) is een vzw die is opgericht in 2020 door mensen die ervan overtuigd zijn dat er verandering nodig is op het vlak van mentale gezondheid.
We leven in een samenleving waarin depressie en angst toenemen (zeker bij jongeren) en er een duidelijk gebrek is aan middelen om op dit lijden op te vangen. Onderzoek toont het onderschatte potentieel van psychedelisch ondersteunde therapieën aan om bij te dragen aan een effectieve aanpak van dit probleem. Daarom is het doel van de organisatie om bij te dragen aan de creatie van een wettelijk kader voor “Psychedelic Assisted Therapy” (psychedelisch ondersteunde therapieën) in België.
Dit is het tweede jaarverslag van PSBE. In 2022 focuste de organisatie zich op
outreach-inspanningen, maakte en verspreidde ze verschillende informatieve
brochures en organiseerde ze verschillende evenementen voor het bredere publiek. PSBE ontvangt momenteel geen overheidsfinanciering. De financiële inkomsten voor 2022 kwamen uit ledenbijdragen (€25 per jaar) en uit opbrengsten van de evenementen. All het werk binnen de vereniging wordt gedaan door vrijwillige leden, die PSBE wil bedanken voor hun enthousiaste medewerking.
BELANGRIJKSTE RESULTATEN TIJDENS DE VERSLAGPERIODE:

– Verspreiden van een wetgevingsdocument (“Juridische pitch”) onder

RÉSUMÉ DES OBJECTIFS ET DE LA MISSION DE L’ORGANISATION :
La Psychedelic Society Belgium (PSBE) est une organisation sans but lucratif créée en 2020 par des personnes onvaincues que des changements sont
nécessaires dans le domaine de la santé mentale. Nous vivons dans une société où les épisodes de dépression et d’anxiété augmentent, surtout chez les jeunes, et où il y a un manque évident d’outils pour répondre à cette souffrance. La recherche démontre le potentiel sous-estimé des
thérapies assistées par les psychédéliques pour contribuer à une telle réponse. L’objectif de l’organisation est donc de contribuer à l’établissement d’un cadre législatif pour les thérapies assistées par des psychédéliques (TAP) en Belgique. Ceci est le deuxième rapport annuel de la PSBE. En 2022, l’organisation s’est concentrée sur ses efforts de sensibilisation, en compilant plusieurs brochures informatives et en les distribuant aux parties prenantes concernées, ainsi qu’en organisant plusieurs événements informatifs pour le grand public.
La PSBE ne reçoit actuellement aucun financement public. Les revenus financiers pour 2022 proviennent des cotisations des membres (25 € par an) et des recettes des événements organisés. De même, tout le travail effectué au sein de l’association est réalisé par des membres bénévoles, que la PSBE tient à remercier pour leur contribution enthousiaste.
PRINCIPALES RÉALISATIONS AU COURS DE LA PÉRIODE
CONCERNÉE :
Activités juridiques :
– Distribution du document de plaidoyer législatif (“Legal pitch”) aux décideurs politiques, expliquant la TAP et la façon dont elle pourrait être mise en œuvre dans la pratique.
– Prise de contact avec les partis politiques de l’ensemble du spectre
politique en Belgique, ce qui a permis de programmer plusieurs réunions.
– Suivi de l’évolution législative de la TAP dans le monde, établissement de liens avec le mouvement en Oregon.
– Prise de contact avec tous les réseaux de soins palliatifs en Flandre et en
Région bruxelloise, et organisation d’une séance d’information au Netwerk
Levenseinde (Oudenaarde, 22/11/2022).
– Organisation d’un atelier prospectif avec les experts juridiques de la PSBE,
élaboration d’un plan d’action et définition d’objectifs pour 2023.
